Yet those interactions are not always supportive.\n\nHorizontal violence describes behaviours between members of a professional or peer group that undermine\, diminish or harm one anothe r. It can take many forms\, from gossip\, exclusion and undermining commen ts to public criticism\, hostile feedback and online interactions. Its eff ects don't stop with the interpreters involved — these behaviours can al so affect our working relationships\, the quality of our practice and\, ul timately\, the Deaf clients and communities we serve.\n\nIn this interacti ve webinar\, we will explore what horizontal violence is\, and importantly \, what it isn't. We will consider why these behaviours may develop within interpreting communities\, the sometimes difficult boundary between harmf ul criticism and necessary professional feedback\, and the role of profess ional culture and online spaces.\n\nThrough discussion and real-world exam ples\, participants will explore how to respond when they experience or wi tness these behaviours\, how to navigate difficult professional interactio ns\, and how we can each contribute to a healthier\, more reflective profe ssional culture.\n\n \;\n\nBooking Link ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/jpeg:https://www.risli.ie/app/uploads/2026/10/Horizon tal-Violence-scaled.png END:VEVENT BEGIN:VTIMEZONE TZID:Europe/Dublin X-LIC-LOCATION:Europe/Dublin BEGIN:STANDARD DTSTART:20261025T010000 TZOFFSETFROM:+0100 TZOFFSETTO:+0000 TZNAME:GMT END:STANDARD END:VTIMEZONE END:VCALENDAR
