Better Feedback, Better Practice: Giving and Receiving Feedback

Better Feedback, Better Practice: Giving and Receiving Feedback

When

5 November 2026
19:00 - 21:00

Feedback is essential to professional growth, yet for sign language interpreters it can feel loaded — tangled up with power dynamics, an unwritten rule against correcting colleagues, and the fact that our work can feel deeply personal. How do you raise something that isn’t working without making it about the person? What do you do when feedback triggers defensiveness (yours or theirs)? And how do you ask for feedback that is actually useful?

This interactive webinar explores what makes feedback useful, why professional feedback can sometimes feel difficult, and how we can create more open and constructive conversations about our work. Drawing on current research alongside interpreting-specific studies, we’ll explore practical approaches and language for asking for, giving and receiving feedback, with the focus on the work, professional growth and the people we serve.
