Joining the Register

To join the register, you need to send RISLI the following:

Application Form (see below)
Proof of Qualification: For example a digital copy of your award certificate
Photo: A recent passport style photograph (electronic format) for use on your Registration Membership card
Proof of Identification: For example a photo of your passport, drivers’ licence or Public Services Card

Personal Information will be required to process your application. All personal information will be processed and held in accordance with our GDPR and Privacy Policy and the principles of GDPR. Information shared on www.risli.ie will include the interpreter’s full name and their qualification(s)/accreditation(s).

Deaf Interpreters are sign language interpreters who are Deaf. Their fluency in ISL and a deep and intimate knowledge of the Deaf community support the interpretation of meaning, bridging linguistic or cultural barriers. They most often work in tandem with hearing interpreters to bring greater understanding and clarity, in situations such as interpreting between two signed languages, working with people with special needs or Deafblind interpreting, particularly in legal, medical or mental health settings
