The Council of Irish Sign Language Interpreters (CISLI) and Register of Irish Sign Language Interpreters (RISLI) are delighted to again bring you a joint training event led by Sofiya Kalinova BL.
Sofiya will lead you through the structure of the Irish legal system, the hierarchy and functions of the courts, the roles of key legal actors, and the main sources of Irish law including the Constitution, legislation and case law. The session will outline the key stages of civil and criminal proceedings, highlight common courtroom terminology and communication practices, and explain how cases progress through the system.
This context will support Irish Sign Language interpreters in understanding who is speaking, why particular terminology is used, and what to expect when working in court settings.
**Please note, completion of the previous ‘Introduction to Irish Law Training’ is required to book this event
